I think I was born poet and grew up to be a songwriter. I love words. I love music. And I love using them both to express my feelings and what I perceive about the people I meet. People are sometimes shocked by some of my lyrics because they seem so out of character, but I tell them every song is not about me. I've been blessed/cursed by the fact that people seem to like to open up to me. They tell me the most intimate personal details and sometimes at the first meeting. I think we all need someone to talk to at times that won't judge, won't offer unsolicited advice, but just listen. I try to take their stories and my own and find a universal truth that goes into every song. Do I succeed? It's up to you.
About myself? I am a native Mississippian who moved away for about 10 years, then moved back. I live in Biloxi now. We've been through a lot the past few years. If anything good came out of Katrina, it was that it sent the creative juices of us artists into a frenzy.
